The Vision, The Mission Of the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis

The affiliated university hospital centre (AHC) Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis undertakes missions in health care, education, research and evaluation of health care technologies.

The Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis AHC aims to offer complete health care, diagnostic and therapeutic services, supported by information technologies adapted to the needs of the user and of the clinician alike. It also aims to offer the best quality, in terms of health care and services, according to the highest national standards, the AIM standards of the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.

The hospital centre acts as a referral hospital, providing complete general and specialized health care, in hospitalization as well as in ambulatory modes, to users from the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Certain specialties are made available to users from other regions of Eastern Quebec.

The hospital centre is a member of the Local Integrated Health and Social Service Network of the Grand Littoral and takes part, by means of an agreement, in the activities of the other local networks of the Chaudière-Appalaches region. It is also a member of the Réseau universitaire intégré en santé de l’Université Laval (RUIS-UL) and plays an active role in the planning and management of specialized services of that network. To that extent, the hospital assumes an academic mission and is involved in educational and research activities in the field of health and social services.

Relying on the expertise of its personnel and on an elaborate technical platform, the affiliated university hospital centre (AHC) Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis offers, in a wide array of medical specialties, general and specialized physical and psychological health care, such as:

  • Short-term hospitalization care and services;
  • Ambulatory care and services;
  • Educational activities for health care professionals;
  • Clinical and evaluative research activities.

The Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis AHC is a member of :

  • Réseau universitaire intégré en santé de l’Université Laval (RUIS-UL)
  • Local Integrated Health and Social Service Network of the Grand Littoral.

By means of an agreement, it works in partnership with other local networks of the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Certain specialties are also made available to users from other regions.

More precisely, the mission of the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis AHC consists in fulfilling the needs of the local integrated networks users in many ways:

  • Give users, directly or upon referral, specialized, preventive, curative or rehabilitation services according to their needs;
  • Give users all the active care and educative services needed upon a short-term hospitalization;
  • Give users specialized care and services available at the network ambulatory centre, at the Hôtel-Dieu as well as at the Paul-Gilbert site;
  • Give diagnostic and intervention services;
  • Undertake a mission of education and research in the fields of health care and social services;
  • Allow medical and paramedical teaching, in partnership with university, college, secondary-level institutions and various government agencies;
  • Promote, elaborate and publicize the results of clinical and evaluative research, in partnership with other groups sharing similar objectives, thus contributing to the advancement of health sciences.

The extended mission of the AHC includes:

  • Collaborating with all the health and social services network partners in order to give users complete, effective, efficient and integrated health care using the latest technologies and all available resources;
  • Acting as a regional hospital centre and constantly adapting to evolving needs;
  • Ensuring the adequate continuous education, safety and commitment of each and every member of the personnel.
